Hey guys,

I was waitlisted by a school in late October and am wondering when the best time to send a letter of interest/update letter would be. I have an interview coming up and wanted to wait till after that so I can just focus on preparing for it, but that would mean that I wouldn't be able to send the letter till after December 20th. At that point, would it be better for me to just wait until January? I'm assuming the admissions office would be closed for the last two weeks of December.

Or would it be better to just write an update letter sometime in March/April? I was under the impression that sending it earlier would be better, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you guys!

An admissions dean at one of my interviews said that a most effective LOI would be written just before they determine the order of the waitlist. They want to know that you are still interested that late in the game. Not sure how other schools feel about it, though, but her view makes sense.
