I have done a lot of research on the different schools after getting screwed. So I know a lot about almost every AVMA accredited vet school in the US and the ones abroad. I finally found mine which I call the perfect veterinary school. I like it so much because of the student support, they help you if you struggle, they don't fail you out if you fail one class. Instead, they let you retake the exam. That alone takes away all the anxiety and stress knowing they will not weed you out. Most of these schools have issues after speaking with people who have gone to different schools in the US. You will not find the facts and the real statistics of how many they flunk out, the NAVLE percentage pass rate, etc. The statistics are not correct because these books can only put in them what the school has reported to them. So if you want to know more about a school or several,, feel free to PM me. If you just want to know your chances of getting in for certain schools, PM me. Or even cost, or anything else, or preparing a good personal statement or preparing with certain classes. Most of the classes that are pre-requ's that you have to take are not important for vet school. However, there are some that are very important that are never even mentioned as even just a recommendation. I can probably help you out on every aspect of vet school and what to expect, etc. So just PM me if you have any questions at all and Merry Christmas🙂

how generous of you to offer such sagacious knowledge of yours 🙄... obviously none of that insight will do me any good as I'm already halfway through second year, but something really piqued my interest in your post.

what exactly do you mean by being screwed? I'd like to know if I've been screwed too.

I don't know what you're talking about. Where'd you get that from?

By the way, what IS the perfect vet school?

What is this crap? Someone PM them and get all the hotttt gossips.

Why does it sound like someone is trying to sell their book or services?

But only before you actually go there. After you actually start school it is the most miserable place on the planet and OMG YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD WE HAVE IT HEREEEEEEE.

😉
👍
Absolutely!

It is the rare graduate student who doesn't whine almost as much as my wimpy little boy dog (and that is A LOT of whining). And I am admittedly NOT that rare graduate student.

Yep. And for some reason when you tell people it's the most miserable place on the planet, they get all huffy with you. idgi 😛

I have found that complaining about vet school life/academics/whatever is best restricted to a captive audience... i.e other vet students.

I don't mind where I'm at... other than how outdated it is. I think that's a fair complaint. It looks like we go to school in the early 70s. Other than that, vet school here is whatever. Also I've never been to any other vet schools, so I rly don't have a clue how much better/worse any place else is.

Our buildings are older too. Only other place I've been is Davis. If a Davis kid ever complains about their facilities, punch them in the throat and walk away. That is all.

This is why you're awesome.

Anything is better than my department's facilities in undergrad, so I'm not going to complain at all about Mizzou.

Seriously - our facilities are the prettiest I've seen. Only been to 3 other schools though. We had a conditional accreditation due to poor learning environment a few years back which is why they are so nice....Our teaching hospital does need some lovin though....

I wish our auditorium had windows so I could judge the passage of time, but we get moved to a room with windows eventually so I can deal.

Yeah, windows would be nice, but at least there aren't creepy groans from the pipes in the building, and the doors don't get jammed so you think they're locked. I seriously thought I was locked in one of our computer labs, and people consistently think they are locked out of the building because of the doors. I had to simultaneously push and kick the doors to the stairwell just to get them to open. I'm really glad I never have to be in that building again.

sorry off topic... but how do you pronounce this: "Mizzou" ?

Mee-soo? Mrs.Zoo? My Zzzzoouu?

I see it everywhere and I don't get it.

😕

I never really thought about it seeming strange, but I guess you're right. I grew up saying Mizzou so it just flows out 😛

Edit: I'm not sure why they say it's pronounced 'muh-zoo'. I always say it like Heylodeb. Whatever works I guess.

I get irrationally irritated when all of my family/friends call the state of Missouri Mizzou. No. The state is "Missourah" if we're going to give everything ridiculous names.

MIH-zoo is wrong. Mih-ZOO is fine. The "muh" doesn't makes sense to me since I would describe the pronunciation as "mih" by most people...

Whatever. 😛

My father is from Missouri, except when he says it he's from "Missourah." Is this something people from there say? Do I sound silly when I tell him he sounds silly (there's no "a" in the word!)? I've never seen anyone else say "Missourah" before.

It's an exclusively Missourian thing, from what I can tell. But yes, it's normal to hear people call it that here. Not all of them do it. Scb44f doesn't! 🙂

I seriously just had to look at a map to place your state within our national borders.

Missouri is the oatmeal of states.

I'm going to cut you some slack due to your location outside of the Midwest.

I'm from Wisconsin. It is two states away from Missouri no matter how you slice it. You can go through Iowa or Illinois. Many many many Wisconsinites are confused about where I live when I come home and explain that I moved for school.

Then again, I had a Wisconsinite insist I was from the south when I said I was born in Indiana. So. Our geography skills might be a little lacking there...

the only reason anyone knows where Oklahoma is is because that giant mistake Texas is right next to it.

My mother swears that Oklahoma is located along the Mississippi river.
When the Miss. was having all that flooding trouble, I was getting daily texts from her asking if I was safe and dry. :smack:

My parents are from Missouri, you turdbucket.

Do you have to hire a sherpa guide to go home for the holidays?

I looked at the map about three hours ago, but mysteriously can't currently place Missouri within 1000 miles of it's actual location.

Missouri is the Waldo of America.

You Middle-Americans are adorable.

Naming your 'states...'
Drawing lines around them and stuff.

The Midwest is the country mouse cousin of America.

My mom was once teaching a class about South Africa to a group of kids (age 6-10) in Wisconsin and she asked if any of them had ever been to a different country. Three or four kids raised their hands and all said things like, "I've been to Illinois!" and "My grandpa lived in New York when he was little!"

I'd have to agree with you on that one, Breenie!

You'd think the "Missourah" thing would relate to where you live, and sometimes it does, but I have known people from the suburbs of Kansas City who say it that way, while people in the middle of nowhere pronounce it correctly. It's very random.

As for the map cowgirla posted, that whole "one of the states that has Kansas City" thing is totally true! I grew up in KC and worked at a hotel by KCI, so we got lots of business people from all over the country. Many times I was asked things like, "Are they separate cities?" "Do you have one mayor or two?" "What state is Kansas City in?" It was amusing to say the least.

Thing is, we don't take that as the condescending insult all you coasties mean it to be. Most of us here are perfectly happy being fly-over states. So bring on the country bumpkin jokes - we're ok with that image. 🙂

And Indiana? Definitely south. 😉

Today I had an Iowan make fun of Wisconsin (seriously?), and she referenced the part that borders "Montana". Uhm. That big state north of you is MINNESOTA.

What the hell. Do kids not learn geography in school anymore?
