I'm completing my PGY-1 now and for some reasons would like to change the program.

So my dilemma is ...how do I go about looking for a PGY-2 somewhere else without exposing it to my program?

"PD LOR/good standing letter" is apparently a key element to such a search, but definitely a NO GO for me as it may lead to my program taking preemptive action. So, how likely is it to find a spot without having the new program contact your current PD while evaluating candidates?

Thanks in advance for you inputs.

I would have all your evaluations in hand and say "hey, I don't want to jeopardize my place there, but here's the equivalent of a recommendation!
