I am currently in the process of filling my pre-reqs, while trying to find part time work as a PT tech/aide to fulfill my "shadowing" hours. I am hoping to find a paid position instead of volunteer work. What is the best way to go about finding open opportunities for aides? No luck with online job boards.

call all of the places in your area and see if theyre hiring. most wont be, but they'll also be be likely to take your resume and may call u when something comes up. thats what i did anyway

google physical therapy for your area. go to each place with a cover letter and resume. try and speak to someone about a position. if you can't do that, then you can just drop off the cover letter and resume. good luck!

Since you're currently working on pre-reqs, you might want to ask one of your current instructors (anatomy, etc.) if they know of any local PT's that would be willing to let you volunteer observe and/or assist. If they do, contact who the instructor recommends and ask the PT if you can volunteer. If you do that, they agree to the volunteer situation and you demonstrate over time that you're bright, ambitious and are truly interested PT, it could lead to a job offer when they have a PT tech/aide opening. That's how it worked for me - I volunteered for three months and I was the first person they turned to when they had an opening. It's led to a ton of experience and observation hours.

A variation on that is to, as others have suggested, contact local PT clinics and state a desire to volunteer. Most would be happy to accept an eager person to help out and it could lead to a job offer.
