Best way to quickly increase BIO score?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I honestly think reading Cliff's AP Bio will help tremendously! And If you read it twice, there's no way you should get anything under a 20. You should pretty much know it like the back of your hand. And it's free lol Also, if you've taken a lot of upper division bio courses, random info that you've likely retained from them could help, but if not, you should still be solid with Cliff's. DAT Bootcamp's bio tests and explanations are everything. It has a few things that Cliff's didn't really cover much of (like what organs form from the germ layers and a few physiology facts). I've taken the DAT twice and got a 22 in bio the first time and a 24 when I took it yesterday. That's just my opinion. Hope it helps!

What made you read cliff's instead of feralis's notes? I'm trying to decide on which one to focus on

I read cliff's for the first month and then used Feralis notes throughout the second month. Cliffs is good for covering the basic DAT topics but it doesnt have all the information that they could test you on. Feralis has almost everything they can test you on so reading it after Cliffs was pretty effective for me personally.

I found Cliff's to be more structured than feralis notes. For me, feralis just had way too many random facts, which is helpful bc you can never know too much for this exam, but it started interfering with my dat practice. A lot of facts from feralis come straight from destroyer and bootcamp questions. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to use both. I just found Cliff's to be a cleaner read.

But my DAT is in few days! And I'm very worried about my bio score!

These are my scores and I did them in the following order. BC1: 19. BC2 16 BC4:17 BC5: 18 then I redid the first two and I got BC1 21 and BC2 21 then I did BC3 which I never did before and got 14!!!.
I have already read Barron AP BIO and I already finished BIO on DAT destroyer but that was like a little than two month ago. After I finished Destroyer these were my scores on BC
When is it?? And what resources have you used so far?

If you have at least 3 days then you can totally knock out reading Cliff's. I haven't read Barron's bio so I'm not sure how helpful it is. But seriously, if you have at least 3 days, reading Cliff's will help tremendously! The first 6 chapters are literally like 5-7 pages each, so you can knock that out in like 6 hours (with breaks). And the rest of the chapters are like 10-12 pages each. The whole book has 14 chapters. It sounds intimidating but it's honestly not as bad as it sound

Do you think this will help? I'm aiming for just 18-19 in BIO. and my test is in 5 days

Oh hell yeah!! You have more than enough time!!! Make sure you just keep reviewing every subject. If you finish Cliff's by Sunday, you'll be good. It might seem like a lot, but there's no reason you can't make better than an 18 if you read it thoroughly. And since you've read Barron's, it might just seem like review anyway with a few more pieces of information. YOU CAN DO IT!

And make sure you understand the bootcamp explanations. You have plenty of time to make a huge difference in your bio score!

Thanks for the motivation! I really don't want to push this exam anymore! I will try to finish CLIFF by Saturday night

Another question regarding QR, what were your scores on Math destroyer or BC and how did you do on the real DAT. In math destroyer I keep getting 27-31 questions right

Yeah no prob! The first time I took the dat, I was averaging like 20-24 questions correct in math destroyer. I only did the first test this time around and got 31/40 correct. But I scored the lowest in QR on the DAT. On BC I was averaging about a 16-17 for QR.

My DAT QR score the first time was an 18, and on Tuesday I got a 14
you're doing really well on math destroyer so I don't think you should worry much about QR. Seems like you know what you're doing.
If you're curious I'll just tell you all my scores lol

On Tuesday I got 24TS/21AA/24BIO/22GC/27OC/20RC/20PAT/14QR

Also, this time around QR just looked really unfamiliar so I guessed on a lot of questions. But with your scores so far I don't see why you wouldn't do well in QR

Great scores! Hopefully dental schools will look over your QR scores since it's the subject that they careless about!
What do you think helped you the most on OC? What's the best review material? were there lots of rxn questions or more conceptual questions like Acidity and CNMR ets

Thank you!!! I really hope so. I'd be damned if I get rejected because of useless QR LOL

Okay so for OC, I was really worried bc it destroyed me the first time when I made an 18. It's mainly conceptual, and that goes for GC as well. I had maybe 2 GC calculations but the rest was conceptual. OC I had maybe 2 or 3 rxn questions and 2 Mass Spectrometry/H-NMR questions, but the rest were conceptual. I would still make sure to know all the rxns/mechanisms though bc you never know what you'll get on the real thing. The only rxn question I remember I had was the monochlorination of benzene lol super simple

Feralis' notes were notes taken off of Cliff's book. For me it was useful to have both since at times Feralis' notes from the book weren't clear.

Oh okay gotcha. Yeah I mean it never hurts to gain as much info as possible. I just liked the organization a little better in Cliff's. Did you get through all of feralis??

Yeah I read through it 2 times, only picked up Cliff's through parts that Feralis's notes weren't clearly written. Much of the notes are verbatum from the book so it was easy to pick up the right section from the book for clarification.

I would also watch craig savage youtube videos. He has a playlist on every topic basic biology. He discusses it and illustrates it, best of both worlds.
