What are the best/worst D.O. schools in your opinion? Why are they the best/worst?

Figure out what the average debt is of students graduating from different med schools. The most expensive is always the best!

Well, I guess that makes TCOM the worst out of all of the DO schools! Right, Tex[as]Pre-med!!!😉

CCOM

Great city, great rotating hospitals, lots of opportunities. I'd say CCOM, PCOM, TCOM, NYCOM are the best for those similar reasons.

DMU is a great place too.

best-MSUCOM, lots of research grants and cuz usnews said so.

worst-PCSOM, low standards from admission. check out mdapplicants.com, this guy with a 19 got in.

You think PCSOM is a bad school because ONE guy with a 19 got in?

Maybe PCSOM looks at more than MCAT scores. Maybe they look at determination, EC activities, GPA, volunteer experience, personality, and so forth. By the way, I was the ONE GUY with the 19.

did you defer a couple of years? why is the year all wrong?

Yeah, but doesn't every school say they look at the whole package?

Yes they do. You said PCSOM was the worst DO school because someone with a 19 got accepted, and therefore they must have low standards. That is just one thing on an application.

Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion on the matter. But MCAT scores can be misleading, just as much as any other standard measured in the application process. The MCAT was the only weak point on my application.

I will begin school at PCSOM in August 2004, and in my opinion, I couldn't get a better medical education anywhere else. We are all going to be learning essentially the same thing, no matter where we choose to attend med school. I find it a little offensive that you can judge a particular school simply based on the fact that ONE PERSON got in with a 19. I can assure you that PCSOM is not the first and only school where someone with a 19 has gotten in!

...and we're still in the Top 5 for COMLEX scores. :meanie:

you can't make a final determination on the value of a school based solely on admission requirements. every student at every school is provided with the same information and, for the most part, the same resources. its up to the students to succeed, and if you look at pcsoms scores, they're certaintly not at the bottom of the list. those who are going to succeed are going to do it at any school. those who aren't, just won't, regardless of where they attend

what's up your superficially thinking butt? Man its people like you who steer pre-meds the wrong way. Enjoy your time at COMP, I hope you dont' step on any toes or look down on other people as you miss the cr@p flinging around you.

Q, DO

did u ever go on mdapplicants.com and do searches to see who got in with mcats below 28. theres this guy who got into harvard with a 25 and another older guy(non trad applicant) who scored a 23 and had a gpa of like 3.3 and he got into harvard too. U just have to try, losers never try.

Q, DO

We're mostly a helpful and non-judgemental bunch here, and we are all in this together. School is more tolerable, once people realize this.

Though it might take some people longer than others ...

i also looked at their average at: http://www.kcom.edu/faculty/chamberlain/ranmcat.htm
isn't it the lowest among all DO schools?

Hey Craz, don't worry too much. Your license to be crazy hasn't been revoked yet. Actually, I don't think you are the one to be blamed at all. At the web site that you furnished, someone had apparently ranked COM on the basis of MCAT only. A curious soul needs only to click on "Osteopathic School Ranking" (on the Homepage) to reach that page of "Osteopathic Medical Schools listed in descending order by MCAT." You happened to be crazy enough to click on it. 😀

I also checked profile of both applicants with MCAT 19 who was and has been accepted at the school. Thank both of them for the info.

You may have to be careful when depending on mdapplicants.com for statistics. I bet a lot of people just put bull$h!t on the sight because you can enter your statistics and what not however you want.

Hmmm According to you guys PCSOM is the easiest school to get into and students aren't naturally bright, but the school has one of the best board passing rates. Sounds like a good way to graduate 1st in your class while getting stellar board scores! Maybe crazy250 should jump on the bandwagon!

P.S. I am just summarizing all posts and reaching a funny but plausible result. In no way am I trying to offend PCSOM students. Best of luck to you all.

you poeple need to stop tripping, i peronally know someone who got into pcom with a 17!!! and guess what she doing fine, in fact pretty close to the top of her class. do schools are pretty cool in the fact that they do look at the overall package for admissions, meaning hey dont throw away all aplicatins with gpa <3 mcat <30. come on, if so many peple with 30+ mcats are being accepted to DO schools, why does the average still hover aound 24....

Please read my posting on the Best DO school and that should answer all of your questions. If you still have doubts, please email me. Thanks.

just a little curious ripulpancal, i read all of your other postings and they were all about teh same thing, which schools are terrible. makes no sense whatsoever, and the only stat you have is last year's comlex pass rate, which doesn't seem to be accurate according to students at the schools you're bashing. you listed DMU, PCOM, and NYCOM as the worst DO schools. news flash, these are probably the top 3 DO schools. something doesn't seem right here...

Yea I read your post. Touro the best DO school.

I had to laugh at that one. I don't know where you get your stats about the US News thing. There are only a few ranked DO schools in the rankings and in the primary care rankings MSU-COM is number 4 out of MD and DO schools. TUCOM is not even ranked and they are one of the newest schools. How the heck can you say it is the best. 🙄

Maybe ripulpancal2000 was rejected my PCOM, NYCOM, and DMU......and it thus....a little bitter?? yeah, i'd say so. PCOM and DMU are two of the oldest with the greatest tradition. Touro is a great school, but c'mon? the best? I highly highly doubt it.

mmm.............this is an inteesting discussion LOL

so i'll add my 2 cents:

best: AZCOM, CCOM, LECOM

worst: TUCOM, TUCOM, TUCOM (sorry slickness)

<doges bullet from slickness>:meanie: 😀
