I just came across a question that stated beta-agonists are beneficial in GERD. How do Beta agonists help in GERD? I thought that except for the heart, beta would cause relaxation.

What are the other properties of Beta receptors and GI tract?

😕 I've read that beta agonists may aggravate symptoms of GERD. Where did you find this question?

Yeah, that would make sense.

But on a combank question, the explanation states that "Agents that stimulate beta-receptors, as opposed to blocking them, have been demonstrated to maintain the constriction of the lower esophageal sphincter."
