Betadine vs chloroprep before procedures... discuss

Do you use chloroprep or betadine for prep

betadine for 3+ minutes, then lots of alcohol.....chlorhexidine in iodine allergic patients and anything deep

Doesn't matter really. Both get things sterile. I use iodine normally, but use chlorhexidine if iodine allergic or in the cervical region so I don't stain the patient's hair.
 
Good to use the clear Cloraprep. Reason is you are actually not supposed to wash it off. And people don’t like leaving the orange stuff on them. It is supposed to stay on after the procedure for ongoing germ killing activity. And controversial but last time I looked at the literature Cloraprep was slightly better at killing stuff then Betadine was my overall impression

For stim trials and perms, I double prep
Betadine blot and scrub
Then chloraprep
