Go watch it. It's about a doctor fighting for refugees in the war-torn 3rd world countries. You will get depressed though.

this is the movie with jolie?

hmm the trailer didnt look too great but hey if sdn member says its good....then its all good for business....

i guess ill go after i see lost in translation.

I didn't like the vulgarity, but if you are interested in UN, Doctors W/O Borders, or volunteer work in AFrica you should definitely see it.

Now this is a movie that interests me. I could compare the experiences of the characters to my own while volunteering in Africa.

But tell me, is it a good date movie, or will I be greasing up my hands later tonight?

It is an exaggeration in that every part is a worst-case scenario, but I believe it was fairly accurate overall. I brought my girlfriend and since she can't stand gross scenes she was buried in my arms. So no lube for you.

They ruined the important parts with uninteresting romance.

Oh I most definitely agree. They should have left some of that out. But then again I always wish they would leave romance out.

Heck no, not when angelina is getting it on

I currently work with a refugee organization that helps resettle refugees in the united states and I got a free pass to that film. I haven't watched it yet but I really think Angelina Jolie has done a lot of good humanitarian work, especially with refugees. She even adopted a girl from Cambodia. She has done a lot compared to many other actors out there who are in it only for the money.

Squat n squeeze what type of volunteering did you do in Africa and what countries did you go to?

What organization is that? What work do you do? Volunteer or paid? What region of the US?

I spent some time in Uganda. Basically, I handed out condoms, took vitals, fed babies, and set up an emergency first response system (which probably went to hell 2 weeks after I left). Overall, it got the words "Africa, AIDS, and leadership" onto my application, so I'm happy.

Too bad it didn't get the qualities of "empathy, compassion and commitment to human life and dignity" into your personality.

I basically got the same results conducting a TB surveillance in a refugee camp in Botswana.
