Ok so I took orgo in second year and got a B in part 1 and another B in part 2. Second year was definitely my worst, I think I got 4 Bs. But I dont have anything below a B on my transcript.

Anyway,I keep hearing that you should have like an A- or something in orgo to look good.
Now I really really don't want to retake it b/c I'm not a big fan of chemistry and just don't want to go through all that again. But I will suck it up and do it if I have to.
My main dilemma is that I also have to study for the August MCAT and I am supposed to be working as well and volunteering. So orgo will definitely kill the remainder of my free time this summer.

So is it worth retaking it?

Absolutely not. Most (all?) schools won't even let you replace a grade if it's already a B. Chill out man.

Hell no.

I wouldn't. B should be good enough... (especially if you have more science classes to raise your science GPA).

Where did you hear that?

"And the study of organic chemistry ties in to almost everything you'll encounter in your medical future.

Since Orgo is so important, be sure to tackle it no later than your sophomore year. If you're prepared to immerse yourself early on, enroll during the second semester of your freshman year, once you've gotten used to the nature of college courses. Organic Chemistry sets a certain standard for the pre-med student as a prelude to the intensity of medical school. And those who survive and succeed will be hungry for more."

WTF is this crap.

This article had to be written by an organic chemistry professor.

Info is provided by Kaplan Tests and Admissions. Take it for what you want, I suppose. 😎

This was amazing - I could smell the b.s. as soon as I scrolled past the thread title. Kaplan should go into fertilizers.
