😕Heres what I'm working with.
-3.4sci gpa, 3.6overall
-STRONG upward trend jr year and this trend will continue through this semester and year. I am a biochemistry major and will graduate with highest honors. (I transfered after soph. year)
-Virtually no volunteer/clinical experience (24 hrs total thus far)
-After this (sr) year, I'll have three semesters of research.
- I am shadowing a family practice doctor this semester
-i'm an assistant medical researcher (~3 hrs a week) with a health education company (i report to an MD)
- I work with another non-profit in a fairly limited capacity.
- i will have good recs.
-MCAT? Unknown, i'd take it in April. I'm not anticipating anything stellar, my goal for april would be a 32.
As I see it, I have two options:
1.) Take the mcat in April, apply to MD programs in june. Work for one year, since I graduate this may, and then go to school in August of 2012.
OR
2.) Take the MCAT in january of 2012, have tons of prep time and presumably get a higher score and have a year of volunteering under my belt.
So, do I take the red or the blue pill?
