Hey guys, had a question. I just got my MCAT results back and they dropped by 2 points from what I received previously. Since the two tests are only 2 months apart will they look at my highest score or the most recent? and I pretty much have to send my score to them since I indicated I was taking the test again on my app right?

I think that *most* schools will look at the highest unless your score drops dramatically. It might look bad, but what else can you do? And yes, you have to send it to them, even if you didn't indicate a retake. They will want all scores no matter what.

Yeah don't worry about it too much. 2 points isn't that big a deal... it depends on what your initial mcat was though.

There's nothing you can do about it now. Just sit back and be prepared to explain yourself IF it comes up in an interview.

Ok, I'll think happy thoughts...appreciate the responses guys

I dropped 2 points when I retook the MCAT and still got accepted, as long as you didn't drop from 16 to 14 or something already incredibly low, you should be fine.

Would you mind enlightening us as to what the scores are? I can better advise you knowing that.

I went from a 25 to a 23. Went from 9 to 7 in physical, 8 to 7 in verbal, and 8 to 9 in bio. Not great scores either way, but I was almost positive I would receive a higher result as I was averaging 28 on the practice tests....I guess the only thing that matters is the real thing tho. I was hoping D.O schools just took the best score, or maybe the best from each section as my local state school does, but I haven't heard of any doing so. I'm starting to realize I might have to take the bloody thing over again.

Hmm, not good. This si what dome of my collagues call "knowledge decay". While some AdCom directors of Deans like to take the best, composite score (yours would be 9/8/9 = 26), we AdCom members hate that and look at each and then the avg score. I personally like your increase int he Bio, but I'm a tad concerned about the dip in the verbal...are you ESL? If not, that's a bit of a warning sign.

Overall though, currently, you're at the low end of acceptable, and so I think you should take a crack at applications now. You probably will pull some interviews. Good luck!

I see. I guess I will hope for the best and maybe I will get a chance at an interview or two. Thanks a lot for the input.
