billing for two 90792's?

Hello,

Do any of you ever do a Psychiatric Evaluation over two appointments? Specifically, I am considering doing Child Psychiatry consultations over two visits, during which time will be spent with child, parents, all together, etc. Does anyone know if 90792 can be billed twice for this purpose (once at first appt, and again at a follow up appt a week or so later)?

No, I bill the new evaluation once. You can usually then bill 99214 and the Interactive Complexity add on code at the next visit when you provide those services.

Wouldn’t you have to bill one as a 90791? Not sure if you follow that up with a 792.

Yes the APA CPT guidelines specifically say you can do this in CAP for extended evals.
