BillPay with Secondary Fees?

I will be abroad during the first half of the summer and was wondering if anyone had ever used the BillPay feature from their bank to send checks for their secondary fees. I know of a friend I could trust to write my checks and send them off to the schools but I'd prefer not to put him through that. Anyone have experience with BillPay?....I can add my AADSAS # to the memo line I believe.
