just received my copy of the bio 1001 book. I am trying to coordinate studying with the bio textbook (4rth ed). I am curious at to...

1. What is best way to use this book. Should I attempt all the passages and non passage questions related to a particular subject at one time.. or should I be doing every 3rd or 5th question?
2. Some of the passages and questions seem to expect one to have other understanding and info.. from topics not covered yet? How should I handle that..
3. In the book it says not to worry about the structure of the amino acids... but the questions require to have more knowlege and application....
4. Is the bio 1001 designed to be tougher/same level of difficulty as the typical MCAT?

Any other suggestions shall be highly appreciated..
Thanks
Amy

Do you have the EK complete package or anything else to study with? you are taking the August MCAT?

Hi,
I already have the EK home schedule. Just made some modifications to it..

I haven't dug through the 1001 bio book yet, but after first glance, the passages look really solid. I'm glad that at least ONE of the 1001 questions books are actually in MCAT format. I'll prob hit it next week sometime when I'm focusing on problem topics in bio.

Amy this would be my suggestion to you regarding the 1001 bio. Only use it as a resource when you feel uncomfortable with the material you have just reviewed, and only do every 3rd problem or every other problem. The purpose of the 1001 books is more to just get you comfortable with the material than anything else. It's based on the principle of learning via repetition and in the ek series books it suggests only using the 1001 series if you are scoring 8 or below. While I don't think this is 100% true either, as any practice can't hurt, if you already understand the material very well then perhaps you shouldn't use the book as often. Good luck!
