i am almost finished with studying bio... I studied for about a month...
I have been getting like 20s on kaplan test, but i got like 18 for destroyer.
anyways, I am going to start studying for O chem.
I have organic chem for dummies, DAT kaplan BB, ochem text books (john mcmurry, and Smith).... How should I study for ochem? How long did you guys study for ochem???
Do I need to know ALL THE CHAPTERS??????

Which Kaplan test did you take? How do you know you are ready for Bio? Did you practice the quizzes after the chapters in Campbell?
Thanks.

1. You can't be ready for bio. 🙂
2. Time is better spent studying the CHEMS. (good that you are starting these).
3. Cliffs Bio is rather good, make sure you know 95% of it COLD.

Hey doc, I read your post somewhere... I think it said you read Campbell but how much did it help you? Also, most of the time you spent reading Bio, but then of course you knew your Chemistries..
I recognize your avatar 😉..

You betta recanize...

I didn't read any of Campbells.
I read Cliffs, Barrons, some Princeton Hyperlearning, some EK bio, most of schaums...and more.

Barrons and Cliffs are solid IMO. I prefer Barrons AP Bio

You did not read it even for class? But that gives me some insentive- -may be I will have time for Barron's but not the textbook. Did you go through Destroyer for Bio? Should I invest in 1001 EK Bio? I feel like I need to test myself for what I have learned. Thanks.

Let me tell you my own story. When I took my DAT the first time, I only studied off Kaplan. I was getting 20, 21, and even 22s on my bio section. On my acutal DAT, I got a 16...........

Just my 2 cents. I've taken the DAT twice. Made TS of 18 (studied one month), then 19 (studied 6 months). After taking the DAT twice, I looked into other study books (mcat books, pr biology, etc). The science material for the MCAT (kaplan, princeton review, exam krackers) will actually better prepare you for the exam. I'm using any and every mcat thing I can get my hands on. The guys I know that have made >24's, used mcat materials, b/c it actually makes you think about the theory and background, not just straight memorization. That's what I'm doing this 3rd time around (embarrassing).
Doc3232 is right about your time is better spent on the chems from a strategy point.
Bio is kinda tricky to study for, and luck of the draw on the test. Good luck.

EK set is pretty good. Not as good as Princeton Hyperlearning though.
Destroyer isn't that good IMO. Some of the questions are just ridiculous and will not appear on the test. I really can't recommend Princeton enough to do well on all the sections.

MCAT Hyperlearning is the best IMO.

How would you compare Kaplan White book with Princeton review? I wonder if it is better then Campbell.
I went through KaplanWB once and came back to it for few things. After reading Cliffs for Bio, Kaplan seems to be clearer.
And Uuups, I think we stole the thread😀

Whoever write the book (Princeton), put a lot of thought into it. Hence, you actually understand the material after reading it.

IMO, nothing compares to it.
