this is one of the bio question from ada practice exam.

The addition of potassium iodide as a nutritional supplement
to common table salt would most directly affect the function of which
of these glands?

a. thyroid
b. sweat glands
c. adrenal cortex
d. kidneys
e. parathyroid

i thought the answer would be c because of aldosterone from adrenal
cortex tend to conserve sodium ions and eliminate potassium ions.
but it says answer is a. why???

iodine is important in thyroid glad for making T3 and T4. it is definately thyroid. Guatr (a desease that is develped by malfxn of thyroid gland) is due problems with iodine. you can also think about hyper/hypothyroidism... and iodine. I think it was mentioned somewhere in kaplan 🙂

hope this helps 👍
