Hello,
I would like to ask when most school say 1 yr. or 8 units of General Biology what exactly the type of Biology are they referring it to?
Are they referring to:
Molecular & Cellular Biology 1 MCB 181
Molecular & Cellular Biology 2 MCB 182

Also, I guess for other school they require just 4 unit of Biochem and Microbiology?

Thank you in advance

I think it is the first biology course required for people of a science major (there are more basic biology courses that are there for non-science majors). For me, it was General Biology 101 and 102. These were the first biology courses I needed before I can take a class like biochemistry, molecular biology, etc. Hope this helps.

Yes, that is what i think it should be too for Chemistry the UofA has General Chemistry after that you get into the more advance one or pertain to a certain area of topic. UofA has General Chemistry but but not General Biology.

However, they have intro to Molecular & Cellular, Intro to Microbiology, Intro Biochemistry, Intro Ecology all starting with 181 then the second semester is 182 but they don't have General Biology where you can get the foundation of Biology in order to go into one of these particular Biology. I'm gonna have to talk to with the Heath field advisor. This is confusing.

8 units? I think the units really mean credits.
If so, that would be just like.. bio1 and bio 2 basically.

Also for other bio classes, I think it might be a little more specific if you visit the website of the school you're interested in. Some list "recommended but not required" courses of bio, etc.
