Okay, I graduate this summer from UCI. I've applied to many schools, and some require biochem, which I have yet to take do to the fact that I am not a biology major. My question is where can I take this course? Was anyone else in my shoes? And what did you do or go to take the class?

I took it at my university before I gradutated, of course. I checked prereqs well in advance.

Yeh, I didn't have the luxury considering that I was a late junior/early senior before I decided to go into dentistry. That said, my university starts all bio majors at the begining, so taking the course would've been next to impossible given my time constraints. Hence, my original question.

If I understand the situation correctly, you should have a whole year between the time you apply and the time you start dental school. The pre-reqs needed to be completed by the time you start (for most schools I believe???). That means you will have a whole academic year to complete this course at any university. I don't know if this answers your question 🙁

Why can't you take it at UCI?

The reason that I was given by my academic advisor is that I've extended my stay (i.e. five years undergrad) and I've already applied for graduation. Apparently, we can just take courses, we have to actually be in some program. So, I'm graduating at the end of summer with biochem still incomplete. And yes, technically I have an entire year to complete the course. My concern was simply where to take the course. The universities aren't as easy to attend when one is aiming to take one or two courses as are the community colleges.

no.. community colleges dont really care, you just pay for the course and take it. i know people hwo just take courses at community colleges during the summer... just take biochem the summer before u go to dental school.
