Hey , could someone explain why patients with G6PD deficiency don't get automatic CGD??

Seems like if u get no NADPH from HMP or FA synthesis ( obviously blood cells don't synthesize Fatty Acids)
, NADPH oxidase shouldn't be able to work??

G6PD can be deficient to varying amounts, CGD happens when its <5% of the normal amount. Above this value there's sufficient G6PD activity to prevent the development of CGD. Don't confuse deficiency with absence!

Oh , simple enough .. thought that neutrophils got some extra hidden NADPH somewhere to use for their beloved activity of executing bacteria..
