I'm taking a biochem class right now and we're discussing DNA sequencing.
When when sequencing is happening, the flourscent dyes give you an ACTG sequence. That sequnce is equivalent to the coding strand correct? The computer has to process it and then give you the template stand sequence if I understand this correctly. Or am I off the mark?
Thanks for any input!

You using 454 / pyro sequencing?

Regardless, you use primers to the coding strand, giving you the sequence of the coding strand.

ie:
Coding----->
Template-----------------------------------

Coding----------------->
Template-----------------------------------

Coding------------------------------------>
Template-----------------------------------
