I know that some schools require biochemistry, but I don't think that I will take it before I apply.

Will intent to take be good enough, or will schools hold it against me?

I think intent is fine but it really helps withe MCAT if you haven't alread taken it. I'd take if you have time

You need to take it before matriculation (where required), not application.

I'm sure as hell not taking it until I have had a feelgood interview at a school requiring it.

There are only 12 schools in the nation that require biochemistry. Also, you can take it anytime before you matriculate to these schools.

Why all the fear and loathing over biochem?

No fear here...just providing support! I actually hear that it is one of the better classes to prepare you for the first year of med school.

No fear and loathing over biochem. Fear and loathing over having to take any more science classes than required by law before med school.

I'm using the glide year to.... glide....
