Hey I don't know if these questions were asked already but I can't seem to find clear answers.

1. I am aware that some osteopathic med schools require biochemistry as a prerequisite but does that mean I have to have taken it before I apply to med school or is it ok if I take it after I apply like during the gap year after the summer I apply?

2. Also my school offers bio chemistry 1 and bio chemistry 2. Do I need to take both semesters or just biochemistry 1 and do I need to take the labs along with them?

3. Also I'm taking MCAT 2015 but I plan to take it before I take biochemistry and possibly even half through the semester that I take biochemistry. You think I would be fine if I self study the topics I was not able to cover during the class?

4. how does Taking the biochemistry at a community college look?

5. Lastly does anyone think applying to osteopathic med schools who require biochemistry or recommend it without having already taken the course have an affect chances at that med school or is it better to have it finished before I apply ?

Thanks all.

If they require it you can finish it before you matriculate, but realize your matriculation can be dependent on a certain grade, they can say that your matriculation will be rescinded if you don't get an A, B, or C, or whatever they decide.

It is usually 1 semester of Biochem that is required, it may or may not need to have labs, but usually the lab is not required.

The new MCAT is unknown to me, so I don't know how it will help/hurt you.

If it's the only CC class it will probably be fine.

I don't think it will affect your chances as long as you list the class as being 'planned'.
