I am taking Biochemistry I next semester, and my school offers the lab as a separate course. In other words, there is a lecture portion and a lab portion, each of which you sign up for individually. Are schools that require/recommend Biochemistry looking only for the lecture portion or the lab as well?

I haven't done too much research on this yet, but to my knowledge there's only a few schools that require the lab portion as well. (I'm from California and the only one that comes to mind is UC Irvine..) I think a lot of schools require/recommend biochem, and it's useful to take for the MCAT anyway (unless you've already taken the MCAT lol) so at the very least you should take the lecture portion. As far as I know there's not >too< many that require the lab portion as well but you may be interested in applying to those schools so you should double check with each school.
