Is it worth double majoring? The Bioinformatics major and Computer Science major at my school have a decent amount of overlapping courses, but will still make me have to take more credits (like 17 - 18 credits per semester). My question is: will adcoms be sympathetic toward a lower GPA knowing that you were double majoring, and does having a double major give you an edge in med-school admissions? (i.e which is "better": a double major with a 3.7 GPA or a single major with a 3.9 GPA?)

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the 3.9 GPA always wins.

3.9 is better than a 3.7, but there are other more important considerations like MCAT, LORs, personality of applicant, etc.

This combination sounds overkill to me if you just want to go to med school. I'd pick one. You can always earn a masters in the other one after graduation, if desired.
