Hey guys, I need some help! I have just graduated with my undergrad and will be taking the MCAT and applying to schools next June. I have looked over my transcript and questioned if my biology courses fulfill the med school bio requirement. I was not a Bio or Chem major so the biology classes I took were Intro to Bio, genetics, anatomy and physiology I and anatomy and physiology II. I noticed that some schools ask for two semesters of General Bio. Should I be taking another General Bio course???? I'd rather just concentrate on the MCAT, but I don't want schools to throw away my application bc of one class.

let me know what you think!

thanks

Is there any type of pre-med advisor you can talk to at your school? Yes, schools usually say they want 2 semesters of general bio, as well as genetics and some other upper courses. As far as Anatomy & Physiology I know that at a good number of institutions it doesn't even count towards Biology major because they are usually for nursing, etc. Every school is different so you would need to talk to some kind of pre-med guy.

If so, you have a year until your application. Wouln't hurt to take a couple more general bio courses at a community college in the meantime, as long as they are not like 100 level classes. Shouldnt hurt your MCAT prep if you do, unless you are planning on studying for a year for the MCAT??
