So I have read like 3 different books and each of them tweaks up the classification. Can anyone please tell me what is the standard classification?
Is it
3 domains: 1. Archaea
2. Bacteria
3 Eukarya which includes:
kingdom protista
kingdom fungi
kingdom plantae
kingdom animalia

I am now following the Cliffs AP biology for classification more in detail. Is that the most accurate one?

Is the phylum chlorophyta(green algae) under kingdom protista or kinngdom Plantae??

How are you people memorizing alll these classifications?? All the vertebrate classes, all the protist classes etc. Any tips, mnemonics, any other help??

Please help!
Thanks

First off, don't worry about Domains. Seriously, if the DATs ask you a question about domains, it will be pretty easy to know which organism fits where from the answer choices. Stick with the Kingdoms and know the divisions for the plants, know the phylums for the animals, know the common and scientific names for the animal protists, familiarize yourself with the common names of the plant-like protists, have a good general understanding of Kingdom fungi. And you should be good. Cliffs AP Biology is pretty good, so stick with that if you're getting confused. Kaplan Blue Book is also pretty good.

From what I know, pretty much all the algae you're running into for the DATs deal with Kingdom Protista.

And to learn them, make flashcards. Trust me. They are a good way to test yourself anywhere. I know it's tedious to make, but they help tremendously. As you take practice tests, just add to your flashcards.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks a lot,

Yeah i am trying to get the general idea behind it. I never memorized classifications before so it is extremely difficult right now.
