For the biology lab requirement, is it necessary that you take the 2 semester intro bio lab sequence, or is it okay to take an upper level bio lab for your bio lab requirement? I took the second semester of intro bio lab, but not the first. Instead, I did genetics lab to fulfill the two semesters of bio lab for my major, but will genetics lab count as a prerequisite for med school?

I would say yes. Some schools (UCs included), don't even offer lower division biology labs.

There are a few schools (don't know which ones) that specifically require two semesters of "general" biology....just make sure that you don't want to apply to those 🙂.

I satisfied those requirements with Physiology labs. You could also take Microbiology or Hematology labs...

I think the upper division bio lab would fulfill the requirement. Many pre-meds at my school only took one of the 2 semesters of intro bio labs, me included. Most schools don't specify which bio labs to take, but you should check with individual schools if what they want is unclear.
