I took Biology class.

Which one's correct?

Are you talking about for AMCAS, or for a sentence in a paragraph or what? For AMCAS I capitalized it, but that's because my transcript capitalized it. In a sentence I don't think I ever capitalized it

same on both points.

Class names are only capitalized in a sentence if they are proper names. For example, English is the name of a language, and is therefore a proper name, and must always be capitalized. Biology on the other hand is not a proper name, and so isn't capitalized. The same goes for chemistry, physics, biochemistry, anthropology, and so on.

Hope this helps!

If I remember correctly, class names are not capitalized unless a number is afterthem. So, you took biology, but I took Biology 121. Except, of course, for languages which are always capitalized. I'm fairly certain this is how it is gramatically but AMCAS I dunno what they want you to do with that I'm just talking about in standard written English.

Awesome, thanks all. I looked this up online but couldn't decipher the rules.

Now I get them. Next: trying to figure out then versus than.

Then= sequence

Than=comparison

First you put in the eggs, THEN you add the milk. (a sequence of events)

I am older THAN my sister. (a comparison)

Jesus Christ. This is my competition? I (partially) kid.

I believe you capitalize it if it is a specific class.

Example:

I took biology and received a D. (Correct)

OR

I took Biology 152 and received a D. (Correct)

If it has a number afterwards, capitalize it.

Having a gf with her Masters in English, I can say this is true. If its a proper noun (such as a specific class or something of that sort), it is capitalized. Otherwise, there is no need.

Do they discuss capitalization rules in English Masters programs? If so, my goodness.
