I've found one previous thread similar to this but didn't find a for sure answer. I am a exercise physio major and for my major we needed both full term anatomy and physiology both separate 5 credit course w/ lab plus other physio courses such as exercise and neurophysiology. Would these courses count as my bio 1&2 for DO schools or do I need to take general bio 1&2 as well?

I would think you have to take General Bio 1 and 2 as Anatomy and Physiology is not Gen Bio 1 and 2.

I don't believe that would count. There is a series that is usually considered fundamental biology that covers the foundations of cellular/molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, organismal biology, and physiology.

So my guess is that you would need to take general bio 1&2 in addition to your course requirements.

This. Not to mention that the bold items are all fair game for passages and discreet questions on the MCAT.

Okay with that being said would it still be better to take just a general bio instead of a full term cellular biology class since there is no prereq for the cellular bio class

I was an athletic training major which has similar requirements as ex phys.... In terms of bio 1 and 2 99% of school will want to see you at least took 1. As someone who has taken the mcat twice now, I would say you are better off taking a full year of bio (or atleast bio 1) in order to prep for the MCAT.

Your best option is to contact potential schools and ask their admissions people if you meet the requirements.

I am a kinesiology major and I took Bio 1 and 2. I don't think anatomy and physio will count.

Please take notice that in no way is the requirement for the 8 to 12 hours of biology credits inherently Biology 1 or Biology 2. They are flexible and they can be substituted for by other upper level courses in biology departments. However in your case it is advisable that unless you have taken the AP exams and can take upper level courses like genetics, cellular biology, mam physiology, or others that you do take the introductory series for biology.
