this seems like one that people dont want to touch. I was so close to finishing these secondaries I could almost taste it and then my over-concerned mind took over.

I think you need to get in touch with a) the premed advisor at your undergraduate/post-bacc university and figure out where you stand or b) talk to each individual school you applied to. Get the course numbers etc and present it to them and see what they say. I'd try a first then b.

Hope you don't have to do any additional course work!

I had a situation similar to yours: I had physio, biochem, and cell/molec bio courses, but no general biology. My premed advisor said that some med schools would waive the requirement for me while others would not even look at my transcript. That scared me enough into taking the extra courses even though they didn't really teach me anything I didn't already know. Apparently many medical schools are very strict about the requirements being completed prior to matriculation. If you really want to be sure, though, just call some of them yourself and ask.

I don't think it will be a problem. I know a person who hadn't completed their year of General Chemistry when she got accepted to a handful of top tier schools. She ended up taking the second semester of General Chemistry her last semester of Senior year before matriculating to an awesome California school.

Talk to admissions but I'm pretty sure most schools will allow a substitution of advanced biology for general biology.

I agree. I never took general biology in undergrad b/c I had credit from AP exams, and my upper-level classes substituted just fine for the general credit. You should be fine, but talk to some admissions committees just to cover your bases. 🙂
