Has anyone ever used other admissions test study materials to study for the DAT?

I have a kaplan 2002 dat and a kaplan 2007 PCAT and out of curiousity i compared the biology sections. BOth of the biology sections from the older editions have more information then from my 2010 kaplan blue book. (doesnt seem right) Particularly on plant biology. The first 8 chapters from the PCAT book each have a section relating the chapter topic to plants.(none of the Kaplan 2010 dat chapters have this)

Is plant biology not a major issue for the DAT but more of a concern for the PCAT? should i know the plant biology for the DAT?
it would seem that the biology sections for each should be similar if not the same material.

do you think i should study the PCAT biology section in preparation for the DAT???????

with the exception of the colored pictures or some of the material being presented in a different order, the PCAT book has all the bio from the DAT and more

HMMMM i dont know why this is even an issue, i think they should both be cumlative in the same way.

let me know

is plant biology still on the DAT??? anyone anyone

Yes, you need to know plant (5 kingdoms stuff) for the DAT.

I have seen people using Examcracker, ACS, MCAT hyperlearning, Thinkwell... but no one has used PCAT materials for DAT yet.

You might be the first.

A recent post-DAT thread said studying for Plants really helped on the bio section, and credited Barron's AP Biology for it, along with ecology and taxonomy. I checked out the book today (sat around in Barnes and noble), it does have a fairly extensive section on plants (about 20 pages), if you have the time I'd go read it and take notes.

As for general "test prep" books, I would avoid using them as your primary for any one topic. Getting a source that's sole focus is biology, textbook, AP bio book, etc, will probably give you a much more comprehensive foundation. I'd definitely review the sources you already have though, can't hurt. 🙂
