If you get an MD/PhD in Biomedical Engineering, could you work for (or start your own) biomedical company?

Or, would you be better off just going for an MD/MBA if you want to eventually get into the management positions?

Admissions directors and the NIH probably wouldn't like the idea of someone pursuing an MD/PhD degree just to start up a biomedical company. Maybe some schools are different, but most programs want people who want a career in academic medicine. Why do you want an MD anyway? I would think MBA and masters in bioengineering would be better suited for your career goal.
