I just realized that my school offers a course called intro to biomedical physics. I have two questions that I am hoping some people can answer...

1) would taking this course and earning a good grade (A) compensate for poor grades in general physics (C+); this is along with a strong performance I have on my physical science section on the MCAT

2) has anyone taken this type of course? I am not a big fan of physics and was wondering how similar this course would be

Thanks for any suggestions!

Nah, won't compensate. But at least it'll show your interested in Physical and Biomed and all that.

The Biomed Physics offered at my school was quite different from general physics. I can't remember if the Biomed Phyiscs at my school had a lab component or not though...but that's a big tell for med schools. A lot of them require 1 year of Physics with a lab component attached.

It would be best to call a few schools and get it checked out. I'm currently taking English 2, but I never took English 1...took another English called Popular Culture or some crap, it had a writing component though. I called a few schools and asked them and they said it was fine and would count as a proper English course because of the writing component.

So maybe if your Biomed Physics has a lab component, it could count as a 'replacement'. It won't replace your physics mark, but maybe the adcom can see you're taking upper div biomed/physics course and that can't hurt. Ask med schools though to see if it can count as a replacement.
