Blindingly white: Teeth bleaching gone too far??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
One analogy I'd like to use with my patients, but I don't have the guts to say, is as follows. When I ask the patient which of three shades they'd like to have for their veneers/crowns/bleaching etc., they usually say "Don't worry doc, just give me the whitest ones you have." I'd like to say, "If you were going to a plastic surgeon for breast implants and the doc said what size do you want, would it be a good idea to say, 'Don't worry doc, just give me the biggest one's you have.'....?" There really should be an upper limit on most things. I liked the comment that your goal should be to match the white of your eyes. That sounds reasonable.
