To avoid hijacking a different thread, started a new one. Was mentioned elsewhere some employers don't require board cert. Wondering how prevalent/realistic this is. Have 2 offers, one of which definitely requires board cert, not quite sure about the other. From my days in Primary Care, it was essentially universal that in order to get hospital privileges and/or malpractice insurance, board cert was required. Any thoughts on Path?

Many hospitals are now requiring Board cert to even sit on staff after likely some bad experiences with fellows/residents doing fill in work for vacationing FT pathologists.

Not have CURRENT board cert. will incredibly harm your chances for future employment. That Im 100% certain of. In fact there is talk of CMS not even reimbursing for pathology work unless the billing MD is board certified.
