Does anyone know what the 3 digit number/score means on written boards? I would like to know how my score compared to my last ITE score to see if I improved any. Mostly because CA-3's have been asking about board prep for this year and what I used, and I want to know if my score improved from the ITE so that I know what I am telling them is actually a somewhat effective plan for studying. Thanks.

IIRC the written board mean is 250, std dev of 50. From there if you make the leap of faith that the distribution is normal, you can calculate a rough %ile and compare that to your reported ITE %iles.

For those interested, you'll need to work backwards with this calculator. Probability is the percentile. So if you want to know what score would be 80th percentile you plug in 0.8. The mean=274, standard deviation=62. (Passing was 209)

This thread is funny. I honestly didn't know or remember that the real written exam was scored. I had always done well on the ITE's, all I remember was an email from the PD congratulating me for passing. It's interesting that no one has asked for a copy of my score when I applied for a job or fellowship. They wantedy ITE scores, but when I said I was already board certified, they just wanted a copy of my card. Can I look up how I did? Maybe I shouldn't.😉

I think the boards were definitely harder than the ITE.

Something tells me you won't have any trouble landing a spot. I got an offer from every program I applied to. The mil experience and board certification crush the resident competition. Which one are you looking at?

I haven't really started looking. It won't be until the 2014-2015 academic year. I'm not geographically picky in the least, but my wife and 3 high-school-aged kids will surely have opinions.
