Board Scores and GI?

Hi. I am sure this has been asked before but I was wondering how important medical school performance is to getting a GI fellowship. I'm doing well so far so I'm not one of those students who's thinking about doing IM as a second chance thing. Anyway, how do these board scores and such factor in? I think one applies to GI only after a 1 year of IM so what are they really looking at during applications?
