Board scores and matching

Just curious how helpful board scores are for anes. Lets say someone has step 1 and 2 scores in the 250's but not much else particularly great.... Can they still match at a decent place? Im talking someplace that is nice to live and work and has good training. Not necessarily like super prestigious research place blah blah.

I am aware of charting the outcomes...just want some more info thanks.

I'm slightly above average on board scores (read: nowhere near 250) with not much else particularly great, and I've gotten a lot of interviews at what seem like excellent programs. I obviously haven't matched yet, but I'm pretty confident that I've been to at least a couple schools that I'd match to if I ranked them #1.

I agree. I think you can match to anesthesia with good board scores, a good anesthesia letter, and not too much else. As far as top programs go, I think you'll need a little more... Good clinical grades, research, etc. But with scores in the 250's, you should definitely match at a decent place.

Friend I don't think you are going to get many replies on this one here. You have big issues if you can't match somewhere with board scores in the 250's.

Do whatever you can to stregthen your app, 250 is good but becoming more and more run of the mill

What chances does one have with a Step 1 of 202. HP thus far in Peds, FM, IM. H in Anes elective. Will write Step 2 in June and try to improve. Any hope or will I be auto screened cuz of low step 1 score?
