So we all know that certain schools have the highest board pass rates. Does anyone have any idea on how schools are doing for having the highest average board scores??

I believe AZCOM is the highest...and believe me, they did brag.

I'd also be interested to hear this. Do you think that by looking at Resindency match list you might get an idea? Maybe see how many students got into "competitive" residencies. I know it sounds kind of stupid, but maybe???

I would love to know this and for some reason this is NEVER divulged. Seems like the schools with the highest avgs. would want to brag, but evidently not.

I'm not sure why schools aren't releasing that information to you... I know that at KCOM, the COMLEX Level I pass rate is 98% and the USMLE Step I is something like 89%... both well above the national average. If you are unsure, I would just ask the admissions offices of the schools. This is a valuable statistic for you all as applicants to have when you are deciding between all your acceptance letters!

Good luck in the meanwhile!

I think you can get an idea about how well people are scoring on the boards based on match lists, but it's not the best evaluator. For any given school if you see matches in derm/rad/optho ect.. you know that those students did well. However for the less competitive fields you don't know how those students did, and to assume they did poorly and that's why they went into FP or IM is not a good assumption. So I think you can get an idea from the match lists but it's not necessarily a complete picture. That's just what I've deduced anyway.

I agree. IM is a good example. Even though IM as whole is not super competitive it has some heavy subspecialties (Cardiology, etc.). I could see high-scoring individuals going IM because they wanted an IM subspecialty.

Sure some schools are better at preparing you for the boards, but individual effort goes a long way. If you're holding multiple acceptances and you're trying to decide which program to attend, pick the one with the best location and curriculum that fits with your learning style. If you're not happy at the school you won't be very motivated and then your scores will really suffer.

Yeah, the pass rates are pretty well discussed; we're talking about mean score for each school. That data seems to be rarely talked about by any school.

Well, the closest I could find was to look at their match lists. As it has already been discussed, it isn't a perfect determiner of how well students did, but KCOM had one of the most impressive matches two years ago. They beat out most MD programs for the amount of students that matched into super competitive residencies. I know that AZCOM passes almost everyone, but that doesn't mean they do well. I wish they would tell us because I have to choose between a handful and I like more than one. Any little extra info helps, right!

What is the list of schools that you have to choose between?

AZCOM, KCOM, DMU, Touro-NV, COMP, so far I also have U of Utah and VCU interviews coming. Off the subject question, do you know Dr. Lee Rickords? He taught biochem at OSU for like seven years. Anyways, I have been doing research with him over the last year. He may have left the year you started.

the question wasn't about pass rates. It was about actual scores.
