Is there any data available on students from which D.O. schools score the highest on usmle and complex? I tried google and got nothing. So i guess im trying to figure out which schools prepare their students the best for the boards.

The COMLEX was expressly designed to vex the perplexed into thinking it is COMPLEX except that it isn't.

Well, it is a pain in the ass - littered with head scratchers and WTF's, but if you study hard, you'll do fine.

Check out the first spreadsheet that has "Compiled statistics comparing DO schools. Includes matchlists, class profiles (MCAT/GPA/ect), COMLEX scores, and other data."

😉

TCOM is up towards the top. Keep in mind that most schools don't release thier scores, and that many (liek LECOM) 'fudge" their way up to the top by preventing their worst students from taking the exams in a timely manner.

I would be very careful looking at some of this data. It is totally dependent on the class makeup.

For example (from a personal perspective):
Two classes before mine had a 95% COMLEX level 1 pass rate.
The class before mine had an 84% pass rate.
My class had a 98% pass rate.
The class after me had an 88% pass rate.
The next class I hear had a 94% pass rate.

The curriculum did not appreciably change. It was TOTALLY dependent on the class. Not the school per se.

Now that being said, if you look at a school and they consistently score in the 80s or even 70s, that is a red flag. Even at those schools there are students who do very well on boards. And there are schools that generally get great scores that have students fail. It's all about you.

If by timely manner you mean one month board course (for people under a 2.5gpa) than ok. Some people appreciate it.

Also 96% (can't say I'm 100% positive) pass rate for first time takers last year So take it for what It's worth.

Yea, I don't know why people consider it a bad thing. Failing one of the steps is a big red flag.

Holding students back from taking the test is what it is...it's great that it helps some students not have to retake the exam. That's a win-win for the student and the school. But regardless, it's still something to bear in mind when looking at these stats. To take a 99% pass rate and use it as evidence of how fantastic and amazing a school prepares you for the exam is just not necessarily accurate. Then again, I'm with ShyRem...it's honestly more about the class composition. Pass rates in general are not the best gauge for whether or not you'll pass....the amount and quality of work you put in, on the other hand, probably is though.
