I have been talking about positive Board Passing Numbers when writing my secondary’s for Osteopathic School, in attempts to show why the schools are of an interest to me. However, another person is now telling me that the boards do not come until after Internship and Residency and have no correlation to your Osteopathic Schools reputation? Who is correct, who is incorrect?

Medical Licensing Exam Boards are broken down in 3 parts.

Part 1 you take at the end of the 2nd year. This is one of the most important factors when it comes to applying for residencies.

Part 2 you take at the end of 3rd year or sometime in 4th year. This is somewhat important for residency applications specifically in 2 instances: if you're applying for competitive residencies & if you had a subpar score in part 1 and want to show the residencies that you've "improved" and gotten a better part 2 score.

Part 3 you take during first year of residency (internship) and from what I hear, it's the easiest part and not a big deal.

Technically, how well you do on the boards is NOT related to the school's reputation however there are several factors that you should be aware of such as how well the school's curriculum prepares you for the boards, how much time your school gives you to study for boards, lecture attendance policy, how good the faculty is, etc.
