I feel like I totally bombed PS (Form C_). I usually run the show for that section but my form had alot of experimenal crap. It seemed like there was too much to read and I thought I'd try to answer questions without reading a whole lot (Somewhat like Shrike's method). Bad idea! Alot of the questions were theorectial ones about the experiment itself! Needless to say, I felt like I guessed a ton because I fell behind on time as well. Rushing + Not reading passages = Bad PS Score. During the exam I got depressed and thought of voiding. I should have stuck with it but the emotions got to me. Anyhow, I put together the effort to answer the questions I could do with what I knew. I think I got an 8 when usually I get 12s, 13s, even 14s. There is NO WAY I got something close to that. I know I got tons of the qustions wrong. I'm freakin out huge right now. Anyone else?

I hear ya man. I ended up rushing on the PS too. I usually don't finish this section but I ended up finishing on the real thing. I also got confused on some simple concepts just because some of the answer choices made me think twice. I think this was because I was guessing on quite a few questions and I was finding some of the calculations confusing...seemed like there was a small thing you had to figure out for each calculation (no plug/chug). Also everybody thought the PS was easy so I'm not so sure the curve will be generous.

Wow im in the same situation....i took it in april...and thought it was hard and didnt do so well...but after busting my but...ive been gettign 12s and 13s consistently on practice tests...I had form C_ as well...and some of the stuff on there was very abstract....like i couldnt answer a question and move on confidently knownign that I answered it correctly.

If you like PM with maybe a few specific things that are bothering you...maybe we realize taht we got it right...and it might help us feel better.

on all the past aamc tests i took, i always got 12 or 13 on the physics section. i also feel like i bombed physics (form DK) b/c i ran out of time and also didn't read most of the passages, i was forced to go straight to the questions. I'm less worried now, though, b/c pparently a lot of people with my form also found physics difficult so i'm pretty sure it'll get curved in our favor. It has to, I mean it's not possible for someone with pretty solid physics foundation to get an 8, right? at least i hope not, b/c then the mcat doesn't say s*** about my abilities....

Yep. I know from the practice tests that I do best on the PS section when I finish or at least come close, and I was nowhere near done at the end of the 100 minutes. I think I ended up flat-out guessing on at least 15 questions. Without really meaning to, I changed my strategy a bit on test day--VERY BAD MOVE. And many of the people I tested with said they thought PS was easy, which only made me feel more nauseated. I'm just crossing my fingers at this point and hoping for... something. A miracle, perhaps.

I dunno...I liked PS. I finished with 22 min to go. I thought it was more understanding and no number crunching. I however f-ed up my verbal. I could only finish 6.5 passages. I guessed on the rest.

I will trade my PS score with someone's verbal please!!!

May I ask how you manage to finish with 22 minutes to go? What technique do/did you use?

i totally agree with the PS being abstract/experimental. i also had the C_ form and didn't come close to finishing. (maybe my guesses will all have the answer "b" or hopefully an experimental passage) physics is my weak area so i dont know if that contributed to it but i had been doing really well (for me anyways) on the previous AAMC tests. i felt that verbal was fairly easy with a few random difficult questions thrown into the mix. Biology was okay but I had really focused on Organic when studying and there was very little of it on the test. I haven't had a physiology class so I was glad that there wasn't much on it. oh well, only about 57 days left til scores are out 😀

thank god other people felt the same way. I had form CM and I thought the test wasn't bad at first but got progressively harder, and I honestly feel like I got an 8. (I've been getting 10-11 on practice tests) . There were a few tough passages that made me hurry, and near the end I had rush on some of the easy questions. I realized later that I missed a couple really, really, easy wave questions that I should have known. Maybe it was just the time pressure or something. Lets all pray.

Yup PS on form CN kicked my booty into orbit. I didn't find it too bad until the proctor said 5mins left and I still had 15 questions. didn't even read the last passage and basically educated guessed on the last discrete sections. Just hoping for an 8.

don't worry about it man
i was in the same boat a few months ago...rocked the ps on my practices then thought i bombed it on the real one and ended up doing just fine

if it was hard for you, then it was impossible for other people
the aamc tests are incredibly good at predicting your score on the real thing

I felt the same way. I had form CT and the experimental gas apparatus and plane wave interference passage blew me away. The readings were very confusing. But..it wasn't as bad as April. I'm just SO anxious to see what I got because PS section is the part I'm always worried about.

yeah.. i had form CK, and i thought PS was really hard.. i usually did pretty well on aamc this time around..
this is my second time taking the test. when i took it in april, i thought PS was really hard as well. I got the same score as i did on 6R, one point lower than 7R (my highest score then), which was still bad.
since i studied more this time, it would suck if i got lower. 🙁 the interference thing was weird cuz it seemed too complicated for the mcat. i learned that in physics class, and it took the professor a couple of lectures before anyone understood that. how did they expect us to learn it in 3 mins? plus, i forgot it too. also, the apparatus was very weird... they explained it weirdly.. i think they should have made their passage clearer in their methods.. it didn't test us on chemistry, it was like verbal.. how well we understood whatever they wrote. ARGHHHHHHh
anyway, i got one point lower than my highest PS aamc in april (but i only took 6R and 7).. so i guess may be u will get that too? when i took it in april, i came out, and did not remember anything and felt like i did not know anything (felt the same way in august). however, april was also the time when everyone was complaining how PS was hard. this time around, no one really said anything, so the curve might not be so generous. :*(

totally bombed PS i think. I always found it to be difficult as i was geting 9s or so on practice tests. im just hoping for an 8! did anyone else have form AG? I thought the PS was rough! yikes... my first time taking the mcat. i hope i did decently....

I'm glad I started this thread. Its kinda of theraputic in a sort of weird way. However, I'm designing a time machine to take us back into the past to our PS sections so we could kill it. If only I could do it...

Haha I had form CG, I think the C form was in general wild on PS. Whoever wrote that exam was definitely mad about something, really mad!!!!!

I know this is gonna sound wierd but I am at a point where I want to rip my insides out! I can't sleep because at this point I JUST WANT MY SCORE! I took it in April and didn't do so hot in PS. So I put in my heart and soul into it for this exam. I worked so hard that it ended up being my best section until I took it last weekend. Now it is the section that just left me stunned with out any rhyme or reason. I just don't know what happened there. I came late to the test cause my dad was driving me and took the wrong exit, and ran a stop light and couldn't find the testing site even though he had taken full responsibility for it. I showed up in tears to the test. I put in SO MUCH work for this test and now if PS doesn't go up I will be crushed. I just can't stop pressing the refresh button on SDN with hopes that there will be some sort of clue as to what my score is. I want to cry again.

Hang in there my friend. We're all in the same boat here. I hope we all did well. But hope doesnt get you into medical school. If you all want, we can keep this thread going for support. Its gonna be a long 60 days guys.

hey dont worry about PS or any section for that matter. Im sure you did well. I think this test is designed to make you feel like crap. We have what 57 days now? Im not sure, but worrying about PS isn't gonna help. I admit that I think about the test a lot, but when that happens do something productive, like go on a run or do a secondary🙂 hehe, dont worry, in 2 months you will be screaming 13 in PS!!!!

thank god, i thought i was smoking crack. i had the same form c something for ps. on the aamc tests i was getting 10s in ps, and physics was my bitch, but on that test i was like wtf and ripping my hair out. it was wierd, not hard, the questions were so effin wierd. plus i ran out of time , i NEVER had to rush for these things. but i guess having a beeping watch and starting late will do that to you, ugh.
but you know what this means? alot of us feel the same way, and that means we must have done alright. (p.s, ill trade my verbal for someone's p.s score, lol)

eff it. im going on a four day drinking binge. lets cool out a little before we get the score. we deserve it. lets NOT panic.

does anyone know what "form" the computer MCAT was?

How'd that go by the way? I can imagine the essay section being in favour over the traditional pen/paper method.

Thanks you Jon Davis.
Thank you gozeemer too.

This all means a lot. C_ was wierd. Snake said it right. It wasn't hard--JUST PLAIN WIERDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good deal. i feel exactly the same about physics. gonna grab a brewsky and hit on girls (probably unsuccessfully, but who cares)

For reals!!!! I'd trade anyone in a heartbeat. DAMN! I just got murdered on verbal too!

I got form CM and I think that the person who wrote the VR section was a devil. I got a paragraph talking about Movies which I couldnt understand what the author was trying to say. I ran out of time having to guess on about 3 paragraphs. I hope that the curve will help. On the BS and PS section, what happen to those type of discrete questions that you get on Kaplan practice test that you can answer in few seconds...It look like every question was difficult and was design to make you fail.
The MCAT sucks.

Guys is it just me or everyone..I keep on getting mails from different schools including DPM, PA, MPH, and Anesthesia assistant programs telling me that if I dont get into Medical School that there are always other interesting programs I can do. I get about 2-3 everyday.. and it is freaking me out like I am not going to be accepted into Med School.

What really sucked was this long ass passage about trimming bushes such as why they're trimmed a certain way and the history behind it. I keep teling everyone about it. OMG!!!! I had form AT.

uhhhhhhh.........still stunned.

Gettin my scores is gonna be like a car wreck, you dont wanna see it but you do anyway.

i missed about 5 or so minutes on the PS section due to the fact that i absolutely had to go to the bathroom (painfully so)....anyone who had form bg or something similar knows that those 5 minutes were essential. 😱

Yes extremely pissed off at the world or something! I had form CJ and the PS was crazy too! The whole reflective/refraction mirror thing, the gas apparatus, and even the X,Y,Z graph with collision thing (as you know my brain can't remember exactly what it was).... but I'm glad we all thought PS was pretty tough so maybe it will be a decent curve... I'm just hoping for an 8

This post is just to keep up the faith. I hope we did well, it was a biatch.

Seriously..why was PS such a killer, same as Verbal..and hey Bio wasnt cake either....

ggrrr damn PS passage writers, they need to get some action...

What about form D??????? I can't stop dwelling on that hellish experience. someone today (who received a 40) told me that usually you have a good, confident feeling if you do well on the mcat. Then, I rebutted with "but people on sdn"...lol, I sure hope that my negative, neurotic and paranoid feelings about this test are going in a better, more hopeful direction than I think. April was not so great, please let this one be better 🙂 :luck:

I freaked out after the first passage and totally lost my focus for the rest of the section.
I'm hoping for an 8.

The same happened to me. I'm angry at myself for losing my cool. I know I would have done better. I dunno...

Hey guys,
I know this is easier said than done, but do try not to stress it that much...I can tell you from experience that it is not worth your time or anxiety.

I took april and I swore I had bombed the exam...I mean totally blown it. The last five minutes I contemplated voiding the exam. Twice. Thank God I didn't. I ended up with a 13 in PS (which I felt was the worst PS for me ever) and ended up extremely well overall. Moral of the story....your gut instincts can really lead you astray. I spent the first two weeks after the exam stressing what I would get. Then I decided to relax and forget about it. Just relax guys, I'm sure many of you did much better than you feel you did.

Had you been scoring around 13's in PS on your practice tests?

Just posting to keep the faith guys. I'm going to check to see if Guju has been still counting down. 🙂

Don't worry guys, I was in the same boat in April. Keep in mind, the harder the exam the more generous the curve.

How low can the curve go? I see pretty constant numbers on the e-mcat website

Nobody knows. The AAMC is pretty hush hush about its grading/curving methods.

Just bumping for the sake of supporting all my PS people. I hope it works out for all of us dreading this crazy section and the rest of it. Godspeed folks.

I'm here with you - the only section I'm really worried about.

Ugh, same here. I would not be shocked with a score of 13V 14B 4PS (though I really don't think any scores will be that extreme). I only recall being certain of a handful questions in all of the PS section.

I'm just so glad I didn't let the first section ruin the rest of the day for me; it could've been disasterous.

Looking at the score prediction thread I'm thinking there were will be a number of surprises of higher than expected PS scores. too many people predicted low PS scores in this thread and in the "Aug 2005 score prediction" thread.

Unfortunately I bubbled in about 10 answers (hope it was not more) so I hoping to scrape into a 7+

keep the faith!

Hah, I know how you feel. I've been trying to put the MCAT out of my head for the last 2 months, but with everyone talking about it on SDN the last few days, I had to start. I keep thinking that I'm going to get a 13B, 13V, 7P......then I start thinking that's too optimistic, and go with 9B, 9V, 2P. Whatever, I just want my stupid score........2 DAYS, ARGHHHHHHHHH.

I had to completely guess the Gas Apparatus passage and a few others, so in total about 10 questions guessed. But I felt alright about the ones I did answer.

I'm not expecting anything lower than a 9PS, but I'd be sooo ecstatic with an 11!
