Sorry for starting a new thread but I feel this issue deserved its own. As I am now into the thick of third year, I have felt the void of not a few particular textbooks that stand out like they did the first two years in med school (FA, goljan RR, etc). I can't seem to retain anything switching books and switching rotations. So my question is, what is a good source to have throughout the year, that covers basic topics that are consistent throughout all rotations (mostly medicine stuff i am guessing)? I'm looking for books/tables/figures etc that cover things like antibiotics, pharmacology in general, ekgs, fluid management, pain management, etc
I am going to get a copy of first aid 2 CK, i heard it sucks but even if it makes an attempt at having some kind of overview of all major topics, i'll take a shot at it. maybe i also feel this way because i haven't had medicine yet but who knows. its frustrating not knowing every drug (and its brand name) and basic pathophys of each one, or why one person gets dilaudid vs lortab, etc
Thanks
MS III - finished surgery, now in peds
