Can someone recommend a good book for radiology rotation? Thanks 🙂

Squire's Fundamentals of Radiology (most recently by R.A. Novelline) is recommended; a broad, not overly in-depth overview of lots of stuff in radiology. (With some attention to common stuff so you can follow along with CXR, chest/abd CT, etc.)

Felson's Principles of Chest Roentgenology: A Programmed Text, (by L. Goodman) is a nice, Dubin-like introduction to reading CXRs. Also quite good.

If you wanted to get more in-depth, ask residents on your rotation.

Good luck.

I second the vote for Squire's. Just finished a 3 week rotation and this book gives a very easy, conversational presentation on how to read any type of film. Don't bother w/blueprints if you're just starting out. The downside is that it's an expensive book. I'd just wait to see if the hospital library carries it then check it out.

Wiest's Fundamentals of Emergency Radiology

Good overview so that you have a basic understanding of anything that is likely to be asked of you.....every med student should read this.

This also would be good if you only have a few days before your rotation b/c you can read it in a weekend.

People at my school going into Rads seem to like Radiology Recall. It's thick though for the average med student not into Rads. The Squires is really aimed at the future referring physician (talks about what to order, etc) but it does a good job of breaking down the images so you can figure out what you are really looking at and why. I agree with the above poster, I wouldn't purchase Squires.
