Hi there

Is there a good book or resource out there that explains about ERAS and the match?

I am still confused about one thing. If I want a PGY2 in radiology do I apply for it at the same time as applying for my PGY1?
Or do I apply after my preliminary year? (meaning I have to go through the ERAS system twice)

😕

Help is much appreciated.

P.S. Have recently passed Step 3 🙂 - No more USMLEs. If anybody wants advice give us a bell

Try First Aid for the Match, or the ERAS website. Iserson's Residency book is a fair shot, too.

Ideally, you should apply and interview for the PGY-2 spot at the same time. However, competitive fields like Rads often leave quite a few unmatched, so you could also 'match' into a PGY-1 spot without matching into the PGY-2. In this case, you would apply again for the PGY-2 during your PGY-1.
