Can someone who has taken the DAT tell me how their performance on Bootcamp matched up to their PAT score? I have taken all 10 plus repeated some I took a while ago and my scores have consistently sat at 20-21 (got 22 twice). I just want to know what to expect on test day.

I haven't taken the DAT yet but my PAT scores seem to be improving, and so I'm just focusing on my general trend rather than trying to predict exactly what I'll get on the test. I think that's what's most important

I just got home from taking the DAT and I was averaging a 20 on all of my practice tests and I got a 23 on the real thing. I was surprised how much easier it was. Good luck.

Nice! 23 is solid. How did you find the test today? Any tips?

I used Bootcamp but only what was offered through the free membership which was limited. I took the test today and also got a 23 PAT. In general, I scored lower on every section using bootcamp compared to the real test. In my opinion the PAT on test day was not as hard as I expected from practice exams.

Awesome great job! hahaha I wonder if you guys had the same test lol.
Do you mind sharing your bootcamp scores? And what sources did you use to study and found most helpful?

I can't fully remember the bootcamp scores but the sciences were all just around 18-20, QR 19, RC 20 and I could not get a score PAT since the the free membership does not give you a full PAT test to work on. QR was pretty representative of the real test and I can confidently say that RC on bootcamp was a lot harder than the DAT (scored a 26). In terms of PAT, if you're consistently getting 20's with bootcamp (one of the more representative practice exams) I would expect 20's on the PAT. I think overall bootcamp is a bit harder than the DAT but thats probably intended to get you ready for test day.

The main study material i used was...

Kaplan Blue Book:
-spent three months reviewing the whole book while making my own sort of study guide/flash cards to go along with the material
Topscore Pro:
-used this for practice exams in the weeks leading up to the DAT

Also found many resources online for extra practice including free bootcamp tests, ADA practice exam and all of the free PAT practice I could get my hands on

Congratulation, could you breakdown it and share your experience?

Thank you for this breakdown. You did great Congratulations!
You didn't use destroyer?

Are each of the practice exams newly generated? I'm waiting until I improve to do them in case they are the only 5 I get.

@gig1dent no I didn't use destroyer and @ultimateballer07 I thought it would be a lot harder than it actually was. Especially in terms of RC and PAT. I do have to say there were a good amount on Bio and QR that I didn't not know the answer to but I guess I took some lucky guesses. I attribute that to the Bio and QR sections changing this year because the new material wasn't covered in the Kaplan review book I used.

What year Kaplan book did you have?

@ultimateballer07 I had the 2013 Kaplan book that a friend gave me. @gig1dent I felt that BC orgo and chem were a bit harder than the real test, but similar types of questions. Taking the BC chem and orgo sections alone I was hardly able to finish, but luckily on the real DAT I finished Bio quickly and had more time to work through chem and orgo. I think by BC scores were somewhere between 18-20 and I got 21 GC and 24 OC on the real test

There you go!! Great scores! Yeah 2013 Kaplan wouldn't have the updates (but I heard there aren't that many implemented yet, just some experimental questions that aren't scored). Also, what did you score on Bootcamp reading if you don't mind me asking? I'm averaging 19-20 but it seems very difficult.

I think I scored a 19 or 20 on bootcamp reading, it was much harder than the actual DAT. I didn't get a single one of those "the statement is correct but the reason isn't" type of questions. I got a 26 on the real thing and was maybe unsure about 1 or 2 questions.

@AG94 Your scores are fantastic! Please post a breakdown sharing your experience. I'm very interested on how you prepared for this beast!

Since it's fresh in your mind, how similar is the real DAT keyhole question vs bootcamp? For me I'm always stuck between two answers that look identical but 1 is a smidge longer and therefore correct. Those problems really slow me down and I'm hoping the real DAT won't be like that.

I can't answer that because the free version of bootcamp only provided angle ranking. What i can say is that the keyhole questions on the exam weren't like that for the most part. Sure there might be two of the same projections with different proportions but for the most part I felt it was very straightforward if you looked closely and considered what projection the answer choices were referring to.

Thanks for providing your insight! I'm super nervous myself. I've been scoring 21-23's consistently on Bootcamp and I think I'm starting to plateau in my scores, tbh. Haven't gotten below a 20 on CDP lately, so hopefully I'll be okay! Any tips on half hole punches for the PAT section? ):

I there may have been 1 or 2 half hole punch questions on the DAT. The main thing I did was to remember to always only count one hole after unfolding since I am so used to going through quickly and using the line of symmetry method.

@gig1dent My scores were as follows..... AA/TS/OC/GC/BIO/RC/QR/PA
22 / 21/ 24 / 21 /20/ 26/ 19/ 23

Main thing I used to study the was the Kaplan review book like I said. I took 5 practice exams, 1 from kaplan, 3 from topscore and 1 from the ADA as well as whatever I could get from the free Bootcamp membership. I rarely got higher than any of these scores on practice exams except for QR and maybe one or two bio or gen chem sections. If you're doing well on practice exams you will probably do as well if not better on the real thing. I feel like I got a lower QR because I was so done by the end of the exam that I wanted to just get my score (and I knew QR doesn't matter for much)

Thank you @AG94. Again, great scores congratulations 🙂
