Boston and Temple classes filled?

I called both those schools today, and they told me they have pretty much filled their classes and will be offering interviews primarily for the purposes of being put on the waitlist. They had mentioned that those that interviewed at the beginning of this month and had not heard were likely to be waitlisted as well. What's up with that I thought these schools were interviewing to fill their classes through March?

If they have filled their classes, they sure haven't told that many people about it since they are supposed to notify us Feb 15th. BU generally has a lot of waitlist movement, so any interview there would be worth it still.

so does this mean if we haven't heard about an interview from boston, that we're pretty much going to be rejected?ay ay ay.......these med schools are sucking all the money out of us and not even giving us an opportunity to shine!! 😡

I'll be at Temple this Friday to revisit the school. I'll ask the first year with whom I'm staying if they have knowledge on the matter and let you guys know.

Since Temple doesn't have a revisit weekend, I just called up the school, told them I was accepted and would like to tour the school again in a no-pressure atmosphere. I have a very good friend who is a MS-I there, so I arranged to go to classes with her and then go on the med school tour and luncheon with the applicants. I did this at two other schools I was considering that do not have revisit weekends, and both were very accomodating. It's amazing, they're even nicer to you the second time. One lady went out of her way to make sure the second years talked up the school to me and everything!

that's awesome---I would definitely consider doing that if I were blessed w/ multiple acceptances.

Silly question--do you have to wear a suit when you go back? I wouldn't think so, just nice dress clothes, but what are you gonna wear?

Also, are these revisit weekends at the end of the process, like April/May?

Unfortunately, I think only the elite schools have revisit weekends, none of which gave me any love! I've just worn nice grey or black slacks and a sweater or button down shirt. I wasn't dressed up, but I did get mean looks from applicants who either thought I was interviewing in "casual attire" or thought I was trying to show them up!

kermit, you should have worn those grey slacks with a long-sleeve button-down shirt, and the sweater tied around your neck like a preppy! that would have really gotten you some dirty looks. you'd be the pimp with no worries, cruising through the tour near the back of the group..with an expression on your face that reads "this is sooo easy." and then whenever people ask you why you're interviewing like that you tell them "well, my interview went really well, so i decided to step into something more comfortable for the rest of the day. you should try it. how'd your interview go?"

if you did that..you'd be MY hero!!

My acceptability letter from BU says they will notify us "on or about Feb 15th." Were you under the impression that they are in the process of sending out the just-made decisions, or do you think they have sent them out already? Please tell me the what you think, I need to know the real deal....but if you have no idea, that's ok. I'm just a little paranoid at this point. 😛

Both schools gave me the impresssion that at this point, letters were gonna be sent out predominantly for wait list positions. In other words they have accepted most of their class, leaving room for those few extraordinary people. Man those were two schools I was hoping to get an interview from, sheesh, I think I am in big trouble this app cycle. I got my rejection from U of Michigan today so its beginning to rain on my parade. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

As for Temple, they say that most out-of-state interviewees don't get accepted off the CCL until the spring and yet the out-of-state students still end up comprising 40% of the student body. I interviewed there in December, along with many other non-PA people. Not surprisingly, I (and Ii imagine most of the other non-residents) haven't heard from them. I just find it hard to believe that Temple's done handing out direct acceptances, as that would mean that all the out-of-staters (who will make up 40% of the class) will then have to be initially placed on the waitlist. I could be wrong, though...
