Ok, so i have just found out that i have been invited for an interview at Boston University. I am wondering if there is much of a reason to go up to the school. Does anyone know if they actually have spots left in their class, or would i be interviewing a spot on the wait list. I have already been accepted to Tufts so I dont NEED to go but it certainly cant hurt. Just wondering what other peoples thought are.

it depends how you feel about tufts; if u believe they are a good match for you then why go?
if ur not 100% on tufts then check it out.

If I were you, I would try Boston,definitely.

If you are unsure check out BU. I've been interviewed at both so between the two I feel Tufts is better. I think BU has their work cutout to improve their curriculum.

I agree with blankguy..I interviewed at both places as well. Although the construction and everything is going on at tufts, they seem to have their stuff together alot better than BU. I got a much better vibe from tufts too and the facilities are nicer.

Thank you all for the information. I did enjoy Tufts but I will probably still go to the interview to see how another dental school operates, get a different perspective. Plus i like Boston so why not get a break from Florida.

Tufts is the better choice but you can't go wrong with BU either. I just didn't like the way the curriculum was arranged at BU. They make you take the boards in December of the 2nd year to rush you to the clinic.

Ya i was thinking the same thing. I have to wait to see when i can schedule the interview time. My fiance is going up the first week of April to look at jobs/homes so if i can schedule an interview around the same time i might as well go up. If not then i may just give it up to someone else.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the interview like? What did they ask you etc. Also when did you have your complete application ready by in terms of DAT and Transcript and all that other stuff compared to when you got accepted. Good luck with everything!

Just a slight clarification...you can take the boards during APEX as well, which runs into March. APEX is basically a vacation, so you really have up to a few months to take the test, which is more than enough time.

My class did have to take it in December though, but it really had nothing to do with rushing us into clinic. We still start clinic in August of our 3rd year.

I do agree that changes need to be taken to adjust the curriculum. My class had to do 24 weeks of APEX over the 2 sessions. Luckily for the future classes, they are cutting that down, which is good.

Some how I don't think that is possible. BU has been making a big fuzz over it. In fact they make out as if it is their center piece. I think if they transform it into something else it might work.

APEX definitely needs to be shortened and it really shouldnt be anything that the school should sell. The major thing that I got out of it is that I got to do it at home. I got to see a lot of cool stuff, but the time allotted was way too much.

I start my 10 week externship in July, but from the feedback Ive gotten, it seems like the students get in a lot of work. I think it may be something that the school should advertise more, instead of focusing on APEX so much. I'll find out more when I actually go through it.
