Hi, I submitted my application on March 3rd and still haven't heard back yet. Is there a timeline on when applications will be reviewed or acceptances sent out?

Hello! The timeline can vary, but acceptances go out on a rolling basis. Any inquiries about your personal situation are best discussed through email correspondence. Feel free to reach out!

Hi! I was wondering how much financial support BU provides to their students? I recently got accepted and would LOVE to attend, but tuition and cost of living does make me a little nervous. Do MAMS students usually work while doing the program to support themselves? Also, when do accepted students receive their financial aid offers? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on getting accepted!

There are opportunities to apply for grants or scholarships throughout the semester. Here is a list of scholarship on the GMS website: Funding, Awards & Scholarships | Graduate Medical Sciences

For student financial services, I recommend contacting [email protected] for more information.

In your second year of MAMS, you have the option to work at paid research positions or work in a research in your home state, which can help save money on living expenses.

Hey! Was accepted a few months ago and have been waiting on getting some more information on things like housing, financials, and course enrollment. Would also like to connect with other incoming students. Is there a facebook group or anything yet? Also, what things should I be doing now to get the ball rolling and ensure a smooth start?

Congratulations on your acceptance!

For more information about MAMS, housing, and courses, we recommend contacting the current students of MAMS that sent you the welcome email! They're great and have awesome insights and tips for incoming MAMS students. You can also reach each out to the program director, Dr. Offner at [email protected]. We recommend contacting your connected MAMS students first before reaching out to her!

To connect with other students, there is a Facebook group to which you can request access to.

For now, it is recommended to enjoy your summer and give yourself enough rest for the upcoming MAMS semester! Best of luck!

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your interest in the MAMS 2025-2026 program. Please feel free to use this page to ask any questions that you may have! 🙂
I’m unable to find the Facebook group page for the class of 2026, is there anyway you can link it?

Hi there, thank you for creating this thread! I have a few questions:

1. Is there a linkage program that is affiliated with MAMS for a guaranteed interview? The website advises the following:

How many students from the Medical Sciences Program matriculate into medical school?

Approximately 85% of students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are admitted into medical school. Additionally, MAMS students receive facilitated consideration for admission to BUSM and, each year, approximately 25-30 students are accepted.
2. Are you taking some of your classes alongside medical students?

Thank you again for your time and assistance!

Hello!

To answer your questions:

1. MAMS does not offer cutoffs for guaranteed matriculations to medical schools, but you are given special consideration as an applicant during your application to BUSM if you successfully completed MAMS. BUSM and other medical schools are looking at your ability to do well in medical courses, and MAMS is the perfect way to demonstrate that!

2. You will not be taking your classes alongside medical students! All MAMS courses are uniquely catered towards science graduate students!

Hope this helps!

Hello! What is the daily schedule like? Also would it be feasible for someone to commute from a neighboring state?

Hello. I submitted my application early June and wanted to find out how long usually takes to hear back. Thank you!

Hi all. I'm a MAMS alumni from this past decade who enjoys information transparency. As a practical exercise, I kept a list of my fellow classmates who entered the program and spend an evening Googling the names to see what everyone was up to. This was not the most stringent research so mistakes are possible and information may be missing. That said, I think it is useful to students before they spend tens of thousands of dollars on an additional degree.

Total Students: 157

  • Of these, 42 (27%) of students did not have any mention of them being in medical school or residency. Some are currently employed (pharma/biotech/clinical research was most common). Some have little social media presence. Others have very common names which made it difficult to discern their identity from another person.
  • 23 (15%) of the students matriculated into BUSM. Note: students matriculated across different years; not all entered the next year after MAMS.
  • 57 (36%) of the students matriculated into another USMD program.
  • 23 (15%) of the students matriculated into a USDO program.
  • 8 (5%) of the students matriculated into a foreign medical program. 3/8 attended Caribbean med schools. Cumulatively, 5/8 matched back into a residency in the US.
  • 4 (2.5%) of the students entered a different terminal graduate degree (PhD, optometry, dentistry).

In conclusion, 51% of students eventually matriculated into a USMD program, either BU or otherwise. An additional 15% matriculated into USDO and 5% matriculated into a foreign medical school. Ultimately, at least 71% of students were able to gain entry into medical school (USMD+USDO+Foreign Med School) after BU MAMS.
